The Untouchables

camera shots
in the opening sequence to this film there is the use of low angled shots for example the one of the gangster on the balcany showing his importance as well as wide shot like when it is looking at the camera. there is also the pov shots of the gangster looking down at the people passing.

there isn't a lot of lighting used in this film therefore as the viewer you begin to wonder what may be in the shadows, which then makes the viewer wonder what may happen.

there is not a lot of speech used only when the two gangsters talk at the start and when the shotting has finished you wonder what is going on as you don't get any imformation from what is said therefore the viewer wants to watch on as they try to find out what is going on.

the tapping of the pram wheels on the stairs also biulds the tention as it begins to get louder and louder and faster and faster biulding up the tention. also this biulds up the confusion in the scene as there is other people walking around.

the basic story line is that the gangsters are coming at midnight therefore there are good guys there to stop them doing whatever is planned. the good guy helps the lady and pram up the stairs. there is then a shootout when they reach the top of the stairs the pram begins to fal bck down the stairs and is stopped at the bottom by a good guy. most of the action is in slow motion allowing you to see everything that is going on making the iewer feel more involved. most of the gangsters are left dead and there is a hostige situation with a citizen being held by a bad guy. there is then another slow motion shot as the biult is fired and hits the bad guy.

No country for old men

at the start there is landscape shots which are extreme long shots this enables you to see what sort of setting the movie is set in. The opening scene is that of the fight scene in the police station. this shows the killer escapping from prison, this allows you to see the killer at the start, making the viewer wonder may happen ahead.

it then goes to a shot of the murderer killing the victim, this makes you wonder what he is capable of as h only kills the guy for his car rather than for any reason.

there is the a pov shot looking down the barellel of the gun this gives the viewer a view of what is going on around the character this also puts you in the action as you are seeing it as you would if you where there.

the fact that there is then no noise until the noise of the gun shot this then makes the viewer wonder what has happened. the pov of view shot of the blood on the floor has the same affect as you wonder why there is blood and what has happened.

at the crime scene there is nobody alive therefore you begin to wonder whether the murderer did it however they all have guns therefore you wonder why they are all there and why they have been killing each other. the camera goes along the floor whilst the man is walking through investigating. this keeps the viewer in suspense for longer, which biulds up the tension.

the suspense is also biult up when you see the mans feet behind the tree, as the viewer wonders whether he is still alive nd having a rest therefore the man is going to be killed. this also biulds the tension in the scene.
